Skill Sharing
Invest in your community by learning from each other, even as peers. Mentorship is not the only way to grow. Being able to relate to one another allows us to build solidarity and trust, which we encourage through the friendly exchange of techniques, ideas, and observations.
It Takes a Village
We are all at different stages in our artistry. Comparison is the thief of joy. Recognize each other’s efforts and uplift each other in good faith. A solid support system can fuel the inspiration and courage to keep improving.
Creating for a Higher Purpose
We look for art that exposes new perspectives. It’s not just about pretty pictures. Create pieces that challenge, educate, and celebrate something that is valuable to you. Make things that make people feel.
Club Rambutan is a creative collective, a digital residency, and a magazine - here's how it works.
digital residency structure
Club Rambutan’s Digital Artist Residency runs as a three to four month-long cohort. Each cohort may consist of 4-7 visual artists, and they can be based anywhere (so long as they can participate in the biweekly video call sessions). Unfortunately, we cannot accept performance artists at this time.
Upon the completion of each cohort, each participating artist will have created an original artwork dedicated to the theme of their respective issue. Their work will be published alongside their individual interview, amongst other original Club Rambutan projects and hadnpicked written submissions from our community.
The goal of the magazine is to act as a portfolio piece for our cohort artists to supplement their resume and working experiences.
To be considered for the residency, artists must apply via an Open Call (which we announce on our Instagram and Rambutan Roundup Newsletter). There is typically one, sometimes two cohorts per year. We make our final selections based on our single-interview process and our candidate qualifications.
